Happy Halloween !

The weather for the holiday weekend is going to be nice enough to please the Great Pumpkin !!! Lows tonight are forecast to be in the upper 30s-especially in the more rural areas and there may be so scattered light frost. Saturday and Sunday look nice with highs in the 70s and lows in the 30s Saturday morning and upper 40s to around 50 Sunday morning. Even COLDER weather may arrive by next weekend ! Have a safe and happy holiday ! Rex

Cooler weather expected by late week.

Although most of the area missed out on the much needed rain that was forecast-some folks did manage to get some of the wet stuff-but we need much more. There is a slight chance for a stray shower this afternoon and on Tuesday but rain chances will increase to around 40% on Wednesday as a potent front approaches. After the front passes much cooler weather will return with highs on Friday and Saturday in the 70s and lows in the 40s. Rex

Severe weather possible late Sunday into early Monday morning !

A potent weather system is headed our way and showers and thunderstorms are forecast to begin developing in the area Sunday afternoon. As we progress into Sunday night and early Monday some of the storms may be on the severe side so keep up with the weather beginning Sunday afternoon. Warm weather is forecast to remain with us through Thursday with highs on Tuesday and Wednesday reaching the upper 80s-much too warm for this time of year. By Friday and Saturday cooler air will return with highs in the upper 70s and lows back to the 50s. Rex

Much needed rain on the way!!!

Tonight through Saturday night will be rain free but a much need shot of rain is headed to our area for Sunday, Sunday night into Monday!!! We could see up to an inch in most locations and some areas may get up to three inches in isolated spots. Have a great weekend ! Rex

Weather changes afoot !!

Weather patterns are slowly changing and we now have a good chance for rain in the forecast for Sunday into Sunday night with lingering chances into early next week !!! Tropical Storm Richard has formed in the Caribbean Sea and is forecast to move into the Gulf of Mexico sometime early next week. Will it have any effect on our weather ? Probably not but we will continue to watch it. Rex

Meteor shower early Thursday morning !

The Orionid meteor shower is expected during the predawn hours of Thursday and Friday mornings and the weather will be perfect for it. Mainly clear skies tonight and clear early Friday morning. Sunny skies will prevail through Friday with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 40s for Thursday and Friday mornings. Mostly sunny and warm on Saturday with highs in the mid 80s and lows around 60. Slight chance for a shower on Sunday but much better chances for showers and thunderstorms on Monday and Monday night!!! Let's Hope !!! Rex

WOW!!! It rained at the station this evening !!!

We collected 0.03 in our rain bucket !!! Wow- that's fantastic ! I know I may sound alittle overboard-but at least we finally got enough to measure. We may see a stray shower overnight and ealy tomorrow morning but it appears that drier air will return for a few more days. Looking at possible changes in the weather-we do see a possibility of a good rain event around the last of the month or around the first week of November-let's HOPE ! Rex

Much wetter pattern coming ?

There are some indications within the computer forecast models of an upcoming weather pattern change by the end of the month that would return us to more normal ,wetter weather ! Let's hope that holds up because we are unusually dry and not much relief is in sight for the next week or so. We do have a slight chance for a shower Wednesday and then again next Monday but not enough to help the present situation. Rex

More of the same!!

Sunny skies are forecast to be with us through at least Tuesday and then mostly sunny through Friday. Highs through the period will be mainly in the 80s and lows in the 50s. There is a slight chance for a shower or two on Saturday and Sunday but the chances are slim at just 20%. Highs on Saturday will be around 80 and highs Sunday will be in the upper 70s. Lows will remain in the 50s for the weekend. Rex

Nice weekend weather !!!

Sunny days and clear nights are on tap for the weekend. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s and lows in the mid 40s. The next chance for rain will be on Wednesday of next week-otherwise-the dry weather pattern is expected to continue. Rex

Chilly nights and mild days ahead !

The weather pattern is still about the same resulting in sunny days and clear nights and that will last at least into next Tuesday. By next Wednesday a new weather system will approach and that may give us a SLIGHT chance for a shower. We could see some much cooler air by the end of next week. Looking for ahead into the weather future-it appears that a rather cool and dry Halloween may be on tap. Rex

Sunny, dry weather to continue !

Sunny day and cools nights or on tap for the next week with little relief in sight for the very long extended dry spell that we have been under. Looks like much colder weather will arrive sometime late next week ! Maybe as we go into November our rain chances will start picking up again. Let's hope ! Rex

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Finally-a chance for showers today !

We have about a 60% chance for seeing showers and isolated thunderstorms during the morning and then again this afternoon and early evening. During the evening a weak front will push through thus ending our chances for rain. The rest of the week appears sunny and dry-but also cooler. Rex

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Rain possible for Tuesday !

Dry weather will remain with us on Monday but we do have a shot at seeing some rain on Tuesday. Starting Wednesday and lasting into next weekend the dry conditions will return. Looking beyond next weekend there appears to be a rather push of much colder air headed our way. Stay tuned ! Rex

Friday, October 8, 2010

Sunny and dry weekend !

Sunny and dry weather will prevail through the weekend into early next week. We do expect a slight chance for a shower on Wednesday but that will barley put a dent in our very dry conditions. October is our driest month of the year normally and so far it is certainly living up to it's reputation. The tropics remain active with "Otto" out in the Atlantic but poses no problem for us at all. The hurricane season does not officially end until November 30th. Have a great weekend !!! Rex

Thursday, October 7, 2010

Maybe a chance for some rain by early next week !

Dry weather will remain with us for the next four days but it now looks like we will at least see a chance for a few showers on Monday and Tuesday. October is our driest month on average so any rain at all will be a welcome relief !!! Lets keep our fingers crossed that this weather system does bring us the much needed rain. Please do not burn anything !!!! Rex

Stuck !

We are stuck in a very dry weather pattern and there appears to be little if any changes in it for at least the next week. Days will continue to be sunny and nights will continue to be clear. Please be aware that there is a significant fire danger so please use extreme caution if burning anything outdoors. Rex

Dry weather to continue !!

No rain is forecast for this area for at least the next week!!! We have two cold fronts coming through-one today and then another stronger front on Saturday. These fronts will bring cooler weather but also dry weather. The National Weather Service has issued a "Red Flag Warning" for the entire viewing area. If you must burn something outside-please have a water hose near by so it does not get out of hand. Winds are forecast to reach up to 25 mph this afternoon and that is a recipe for disaster-so please refrain from burning anything !!! Cooler temps are on the way as we will see mid 40s by early next week for overnight temps. Great football weather !! Have a safe and fun weekend ! Rex
