Severe weather possible this afternoon followed by colder weather.

A strong cold front will sweep through the Pine Belt this afternoon and early evening bringing with it the possibility of heavy rain, severe thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes. It appears the best time frame for the worst weather willl be between 3:00 and 8:00 pm. Today will also be very windy with gusts as high as 30 mph possible in the afternoon. After the front passes through early this evening, storms will end and much colder air will flow into south Mississippi with lows dropping to the upper 20s and winds out of the northwest at 15-25 mph making it feel even colder. After a brief break on Wednesday, a low pressure area is forecast to develop in the gulf and cold air is expected to be in place in our area and this could result in some type of winter weather event Thursday and Friday. Please keep posted on the latest weather developments this afternoon and on Thursday and Friday. Rex
