By the beginning of next week we are expecting temps to return to normal for this time of year with highs back in the lower 90s.

On to the tropics. Tropical storm Maria will likely form today well out in the far eastern Atlantic. Most computer models keep this storm away from the gulf but another system that is currently slowly evolving in the southern Gulf of Mexico may be something that we will have to contend with down the line. It's name will most likely be Nate.

We will keep you posted.Rex Thompsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15950297055020961423noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3599786663553759472.post-67964797374844591882011-09-06T02:54:00.000-07:002011-09-06T02:57:33.842-07:00Tuesday weather update.Sunny and mild weather is on tap for today with highs in the upper 70s. Clear and quite cool for this time of year with lows in the lower 50s. Sunny skies or on tap for the rest of the week with highs mainly in the 80s and lows in the 50s and 60s. Enjoy this weather because it is rare to experience this type of weather in early September.

The tropics remain active and down the line we will have more tropical issues to posssibly deal with.Rex Thompsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15950297055020961423noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3599786663553759472.post-30084738982960947662011-08-30T03:45:00.000-07:002011-08-30T03:51:22.728-07:00Tuesday Weather Update. Our weather will remain dry and hot today and Wednesday but changes are beginning to show up in future forecasts. This morning the weather computer models are indicating that a tropical wave in the western Caribbean will move into the Gulf of Mexico and possibly develop into a tropical storm. Most of the models indicate the system will move towards Texas and that would be great news for them as they are in a severe drought. The system would also pump moisture from the gulf into our area which would increase our rain chances and lower or temps for the upcoming weekend.

We will continue to monitor the system and keep you posted.

Highs today though Tuesday will be in the upper 90s. On Wednesday, our highs will be in the mid 90s. The weather pattern will begin to change on Thursday with a chance for a shower or thunderstorm. The Friday though Sunday period looks cloudy with a chance for showers and thunderstorms and that will help keep our highs down to the 90 degree range.

The tropics remain very active with tropical depression number twelve having formed this morning. The system will likely become Tropical Storm Katia today. Katia will likely become a strong hurricane in the Atlantic this week and will possibly pose a threat to the U.S. in 7-10 days.

The National Hurricane Center is watching four areas of interest. Two waves are located off the coast of Africa and another disturbance is located off of the southeast U.S. coast and the other one is the remains of former tropical storm Emily. None of the systems pose a direct threat to the gulf coastal region at this time but will have to monitored-especially the tropical waves near the African coast.

A few afternoon or early evening showers are thunderstorms can't be ruled out but chances or rather slim.
